So, just what is meant by exercise?
Exercise does not have to be structured, expensive or time consuming. Walking, swimming, gardening, house cleaning, playing with your children, as long as you are NOT sitting, you are exercising.

YES! Cancer Survivors CAN and SHOULD be Active!

No longer are cancer survivors being told to rest and avoid activity. New guiidelines released by ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) in June of 2010 recommends that cancer survivors be as physically active as possible both during and after treatment. To date, research has found that exercise training can lead to improvements in cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, quality of life and fatigue that occurs due to treatment.
The Other Good News?
Breast, colon, advanced prostate and some gynecologic cancers are less likely to develop in adults who are physically active. More and more studies are showing that physically active people tend to do better after being diagnosed with cancer. So, the take home message: KEEP MOVING
